2008 VicSouth Desert Spring Star Party

Bookings are now open for the 2008 VicSouth Desert Spring Star Party which will be held from Oct 31 - Nov 4 at the Little Desert Nature Lodge, some 16k south of the Western Victorian town of Nhill . It is jointly sponsored by ASV and ASSA (Astro. Soc. of South Aust.) and as well as the superb dark skies has a wonderful social atmosphere. Members, non-members and general public are all invited to attend.This year an extra day/night has been added due to the Melbourne Cup holiday and Sunday will feature a picnic lunch on Mt Arapiles.

Welcome to the Astronomical Society of Victoria (ASV). The Society is based in  Melbourne,  Australia and includes city and many country members. The Society attracts people with astronomical interests, from a wide range of ages and with a wide range of abilities and interests. The Society  was founded in 1922 and celebrated its 85th birthday in 2007. It has a Membership of approximately 850 people and is the largest such organisation in Australia and the southern hemisphere.
